FIRE SPRINKLER SHOP ASSISTANT
Overview
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Fire Sprinkler Shop Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this entry-level role, you will assist the Fabrication Shop Team in the fabrication of fire sprinkler systems, material deliveries and the day-to-day operations of the AFP Warehouse. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fire protection industry while working alongside experienced professionals.
What You’ll Do

Assist in the handling, organizing and/or fabrication materials such as piping, fittings, valves and other fire sprinkler system components.

Measure, cut, thread, groove, and weld pipe to specified lengths using a diverse range of fabrication equipment and techniques.

Assist with ensuring tools, machines and equipment is cleaned, well-maintained and ready for use.

Maintain an awareness of any material defects or safety hazards with materials and or equipment and report any issues immediately.

As needed, provide field support by delivering materials on job sites as well as assisting with installation support from time to time as needed.

Complete all daily shop duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Assist in maintaining a well-organized, safe, and clean shop environment.

Assist in movement of inventory in the shop and to job sites and inventory returned from the job sites.

Assist with routine maintenance of AFP facilities and property as needed.

Perform any other duties as requested by the Shop Foreman or Purchasing Manager as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous experience in material fabrication, construction, plumbing, or related fields is a plus, but not required.

Ability to lift and carry heavy materials.

Comfortable working in confined or elevated spaces.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.

Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.

Willingness to learn and grow in the fire protection industry.

Safety-conscious and able to adhere to company safety protocols.

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record (required).
