FIRE SPRINKLER SHOP ASSISTANT

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Fire Sprinkler Shop Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this entry-level role, you will assist the Fabrication Shop Team in the fabrication of fire sprinkler systems, material deliveries and the day-to-day operations of the AFP Warehouse. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fire protection industry while working alongside experienced professionals.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the handling, organizing and/or fabrication materials such as piping, fittings, valves and other fire sprinkler system components.

  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, and weld pipe to specified lengths using a diverse range of fabrication equipment and techniques.

  • Assist with ensuring tools, machines and equipment is cleaned, well-maintained and ready for use.

  • Maintain an awareness of any material defects or safety hazards with materials and or equipment and report any issues immediately.

  • As needed, provide field support by delivering materials on job sites as well as assisting with installation support from time to time as needed.

  • Complete all daily shop duties in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Assist in maintaining a well-organized, safe, and clean shop environment.

  • Assist in movement of inventory in the shop and to job sites and inventory returned from the job sites.

  • Assist with routine maintenance of AFP facilities and property as needed.

  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Shop Foreman or Purchasing Manager as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in material fabrication, construction, plumbing, or related fields is a plus, but not required.

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials.

  • Comfortable working in confined or elevated spaces.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.

  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.

  • Willingness to learn and grow in the fire protection industry.

  • Safety-conscious and able to adhere to company safety protocols.

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record (required).

Job Type: Full-time, 10-hour shift at the AFP warehouse
